Thanks Mark,

Much appreciated and clearly a lot of hard work.

Will there also be guidance for blue junior starts? Sometimes the less-experienced OODs give you the look of "not another thing" when juniors show up to race. Would help if they had some templates in this case.

Good idea Bob

Can you suggest the sort of courses that the juniors would want? - based on the experience with the junior races so far (how big, shape etc.).  I recall from my times with the juniors that it was hard to create something ideal for optimists AND toppers - but perhaps using average lap racing now it would be easier..

I would like to push the idea of the club investing in some smaller junior specific marks (and ground tackle) that are easier for the safety boat teams to lay, and easier for the juniors to understand.

If I can get some input on what is required I'll add something to the guide.

I think in principle they should be short about 30-40 mins compared to
the hour of adult races.A short triangle is sufficient using the first mark of the slow handicap. In the case of a P course, just constructing
a triangle from the top part of the P seems to work and fit in with everyone
else. I think giving them the accomplishment of completing short laps helps.
Optimists tend to be a lot more challenged in the tide compared to terras and toppers, but I note that James Wells set a really nice course for the two rivers this year that accommodated all abilities.

I have emailed the winter training juniors group that Russ Gibbs has been leading, asking them to post their ideas here.
