RNLI Pursuit - Tracker Trial was created by Mark Elkington
Hi
With the very generous support of Sailing Southwest we will be using their tracker technology for the RNLI pursuit race this weekend. We would like to introduce this technology for the Starcross Steamer next March and this will be a trial for that event. The tracking system is not able yet to automatically produce a full set of results, but it should be able to help us work out how many laps each boat has done and where they are on the race course at the finish of the pursuit.

When you signon (in the normal way) the Sailing Southwest team will give you a tracker (maybe two!) and will collect your boat details for their system (clas, sail number, name) . They do not need to be "installed" - just put them in your buoyancy aid pocket or tie them to your boat. Taking a tracker is not mandatory - but it would really help us to have a realistic trial if as many boats as possible are carrying them.

During the race Sailing Southwest will have a display in the club house so that your camp followers can see how you are doing and I believe you may be able to playback your awesome performance in the race on their website next week.

On final thing - as your boat and name will be entered into the tracking system and displayed on the Sailing Southwest website the collection of this information is subject to GDPR regulations. If you don't want to give permission for this limited use of your information by Sailing Southwest please just do not take a tracker..

If you have any questions - fire away.

Mark
