The Exe Estuary

The Exe river estuary provides a very sheltered setting for affordable swing moorings for yachts and small boats. The river entrance is well marked with a Fairway Buoy and Port and Starboard markers. It’s worth checking that your charts/ chart plotters or phone/tablet apps are up to date as the channel changes over time and the buoyage is moved accordingly. The Exe Sailing club undertake an annual survey to chart the depths within the channel which is circulated to other clubs on the Exe estuary. In the channel and inside the estuary the buoyage is maintained by the harbourmaster.

The club will help new members become familiar with the tides and channels of the estuary which are very manageable with sensible planning.

Starcross Yacht Club is in fact ideally situated as a friendly home for skippers and families that wish to sample the delights of the Dorset, South Devon and Cornish coastline, whether coastal hopping to the many sheltered estuaries or over to the Channel Isles or Brittany.
